DESCRIPTION:Impound Night is a crucial event in the Pinewood Derby world\, marking the official start of the racing season. It’s a night filled with excitement\, camaraderie\, and last-minute preparations as racers bring their meticulously crafted cars to the impound area for inspection and safekeeping. \n\n\n\nWhat is Impound Night? \n\n\n\nImpound night is a gathering where all participating cars are brought together in a secure location. The purpose of this event is twofold: \n\n\n\nInspection: Cars are carefully examined by race officials to ensure they adhere to the official Pinewood Derby rules and regulations. This includes checking the size\, weight\, and construction of the cars to maintain a level playing field for all racers. \n\n\n\nSafekeeping: Once inspected\, the cars are locked away in a secure area until race day. This ensures that no tampering or modifications can be made to the cars after impound\, guaranteeing a fair and competitive race. \n\n\n\nAll cars will be checked to ensure their weight is under 5 ounces\, they fit on the track\, all four wheels are always touching the ground and all four wheels are level (not at an angle). If you need help getting your car to code\, we will have a workshop table and tools available. \n\n\n\nOnce your car meets all the requirements\, we will collect your car and keep it safe for you until race day on January 30th!

DESCRIPTION:Race day is the culmination of weeks of hard work\, creativity\, and anticipation for Pinewood Derby racers. It’s the day when all the effort and energy invested in building the perfect car finally pays off.  \n\n\n\nThe races are divided into heats by each den\, allowing each car to compete against their fellow scouts in the same den. After the initial heats\, and awards are handed out to the den winners\, the two fastest cars from each heat advance to the finals. The winner takes home the grand prize trophy\, and we have had winners from the oldest AOL scouts all the way down to Lions! It’s truly anyone’s game. \n\n\n\nThere is also a race dedicated to siblings who aren’t in scouts and even one for adults who want to build their own race cars. Don’t forget to bring money to buy something from our fundraising snack bar! From pastries to pizza\, we will keep our stomachs full. All proceeds go to the Blue & Gold bridging ceremony for graduating scouts. \n\n\n\nUltimately\, the Pinewood Derby is about more than just winning. It’s about learning new skills\, developing problem-solving abilities\, and fostering a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship. It’s a chance for kids to express their creativity and have fun with their families and friends. \n\n\n\nRace winners celebrating their victories

Build your Estes model rocket at home\, bring it to camp\, and watch it soar hundreds of feet into the sky! There are also several fun scouting activities like archery\, a BB gun shooting range and craft making. Make sure to sign up because the spots will go quick!
